Chinese Military Showcases Dongfeng-10A Operational Drills Ahead of September 3 Parade

Chinese state media recently revealed operational drills conducted by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) featuring the Dongfeng-10A cruise missile in a jungle setting. This is part of the commemoration for the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Anti-Japan War, with a grand parade scheduled for September 3 at Tiananmen Square in Beijing.

The footage shows the rocket forces demonstrating the Dongfeng-10A with a launch vehicle equipped with triple-launch tubes, highlighting the capabilities of China's domestically produced long-range ground-to-ground cruise missile. The Dongfeng-10A has a range exceeding 1,500 kilometers, capable of covering the First Island Chain, the South China Sea, and significant parts of India.

The timing of this disclosure is seen as a warning, indicating that the rocket forces possess more advanced missile technology. As uncertainty prevails in the Middle East, the Chinese government appears to be showcasing its military readiness. Additionally, the State Council of China announced that a ceremony will take place on the morning of September 3 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the anti-Japanese victory, led by President Xi Jinping, potentially escalating tensions across the Taiwan Strait.
