Brazilian Taxi Driver Forced to Drink Acid During Robbery Dies from Injuries

A 30-year-old taxi driver in Brazil, Tiago Augusto Nicolau, was robbed and forced to drink strong acid, leading to severe injuries and eventually death.
According to reports, Nicolau went missing after leaving home and was found a day later by a worker who discovered him lying in the street, barely conscious. His mouth and tongue were severely burned, and emergency services rushed him to the hospital. Nicolau later regained consciousness and recounted that around 2 PM on the day of the incident, he was forced to stop by two armed men who took him to a remote location.
He mentioned that after being forced to consume a strong acid, the robbers stole his car and phone before fleeing. Medical personnel confirmed that he had ingested some type of acidic liquid, resulting in serious injuries to his mouth, throat, and esophagus, although the exact substance has not been publicly disclosed. Tragically, Nicolau succumbed to his injuries on June 18, prompting the case to be reclassified from robbery to homicide, and the police are working diligently to identify the suspects.
