Satellite Images Reveal Damage to Iran's Nuclear Facilities and Expert Analysis

Satellite images have shown new signs of damage to the underground uranium enrichment facility at Fordo, Iran. The site was struck by Israeli airstrikes on June 23, a day after the U.S. dropped bunker busters on it. Additionally, damage previously undisclosed was noted at the tunnel entrance of the Isfahan Nuclear Technology Centre, which also came under U.S. attack. Meanwhile, signs of repairs have been observed at the cratered Natanz enrichment facility. A leaked U.S. intelligence document questions the overall effectiveness of these airstrikes, prompting a strong reaction from President Donald Trump.

Moreover, recent satellite imagery reveals previously unseen damage at a university northeast of Tehran and in areas near a major airport west of the capital. Both Israel and the U.S. have stated that these strikes aim to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons; however, Iran has repeatedly denied such allegations, insisting its nuclear program is solely for peaceful purposes. The "new wounds" at Fordo are located in the mountains near Qom, where the facility was attacked by U.S. forces with bunker busters, showing six large craters scattered with gray dust and debris.

The Isfahan Nuclear Technology Centre, located southeast of Isfahan city, is Iran's largest nuclear research facility and also sustained severe damage after being targeted by an Israeli airstrike, followed by a new attack by U.S. military forces on June 22. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio defended the strikes on Iran, emphasizing the necessity of uranium conversion facilities for nuclear weapon production. Further satellite images show extensive destruction across the facility, including damage to multiple tunnel entrances. This latest strike has not clarified whether Iran still retains its enriched uranium stockpile, a critical question that remains unanswered.

The U.S. is currently assessing the damage caused by these attacks, and future monitoring and analysis will become increasingly stringent to determine if Tehran is secretly rebuilding its nuclear program, as this could trigger a renewed outbreak of conflict.
