Recently, KMT Taoyuan city councilor Zheng Jiangcun accused DPP legislator Guo Yuqing's husband Lin Xuanting of having referred to China as his 'motherland' and questioned whether he holds a Chinese residence permit. Guo subsequently issued a statement on behalf of her husband to clarify their legal standing and work history.

Zheng Jiangcun highlighted on social media that Lin Xuanting had previously called China 'motherland' on his Facebook prior to its deactivation and demanded an investigation into his nationality by the Mainland Affairs Council. He called for the revocation of Lin's Republic of China nationality.

In response to these accusations, Guo Yuqing stated, 'Recently, false rumors about me have been circulating online, causing significant distress and harm to my family.' The statement emphasized that Lin Xuanting is a professional manager hired by a Taiwanese company who was temporarily assigned to the China branch and has not changed his nationality or legal status nor applied for or held a Chinese residence permit.

Lin Xuanting regretted that parts of private chat contents had been distorted and stated that he had entrusted his lawyer to gather evidence and would pursue legal action if necessary to defend his reputation. He also called for society to collectively reject misinformation and malicious defamation.

Zheng Jiangcun subsequently responded, reiterating that Guo had not adequately addressed why Lin referred to China as 'motherland' and stated that according to the regulations, Lin must provide proof himself.
