English National Ballet and Akram Khan's 'Giselle' to Premiere in Taichung
The English National Ballet, in collaboration with choreographer Akram Khan, will present 'Giselle' on May 24 and 25, 2025, at the Taichung National Opera House. This highly anticipated production is considered a pinnacle of Khan's artistic career and has garnered several international dance awards.
During this tour, veteran principal dancer Erina Takahashi will make her final performance as Giselle on the stage of the opera house, ending her near 30-year ballet career. Takahashi has expressed that this piece, which explores themes of love and betrayal, resonates deeply with her and will remain a cherished memory in her dance career.
The restaged version of 'Giselle' premiered in 2016, depicting a moving story of love, betrayal, and forgiveness, and has captivated over 180,000 audience members throughout the tour.
