Rare Fireball Sighted in Southeast U.S. Accompanied by Loud Boom

A mysterious fireball resembling a lightning bolt streaked across the sky of several regions in the southeastern United States on the afternoon of the 26th, accompanied by a tremendous sound, leaving many eyewitnesses stunned.
Dashboard camera footage captured the eerie moment as a strange light flashed in the upper left of the sky and plummeted to the ground. In Atlanta, eyewitnesses reported that the fireball produced a loud explosion upon descent, creating a shockwave that felt akin to an earthquake.
Across the southeastern U.S., there were as many as 142 similar reports of fireball sightings. The National Weather Service analyzed radar images and suggested this was likely a meteor entering the atmosphere, producing a lightning-like brightness.
One news anchor noted that a fragment of this fireball penetrated someone’s roof, even breaking the floor inside. In Georgia, residents reported that when the fireball fell, a piece of debris crashed through their ceiling, leading to significant damage.
Witnesses expressed that witnessing such a phenomenon in daylight was an extraordinary experience, one that they would not soon forget.
