FamilyMart Japan Issues Urgent Recall of 2.27 Million Bottles of Jasmine Tea Due to Metal Contamination

FamilyMart Japan has announced an urgent recall of its self-branded jasmine tea due to suspected metal contamination, affecting up to 2.27 million bottles outside the Kyushu and Okinawa regions. The product in question is the 1-liter bottle of 'ひろがる芳醇 ジャスミン茶,' with a printed expiration date of 'March 2026' and the identification code '+HTF.'
The recall was prompted after a customer reported finding what appeared to be metal fragments in the bottle purchased on June 20. Although the customer did not consume the product, they immediately reported it to the store, leading to an internal inspection. Initial checks revealed no other adverse reactions; however, in the interest of consumer safety, FamilyMart decided to expand the recall to include all products from the same batch.
Customers who purchased the affected product can bring the item or their receipt to any FamilyMart location in Japan for a refund. The customer service center also provides a hotline for inquiries. FamilyMart emphasizes that this recall is a proactive measure based on its commitment to product quality and consumer safety.
