Korean Basketball Star Park Ji-soo Returns to Jones Cup, Dominates Opening Match Against Universiade Training Team

Korean basketball talent Park Ji-soo has made her return to the Jones Cup, facing off against Yoo Chin-hwa and Hsiao Yu-wen for the first time. Standing at 192cm, she is dubbed the "genius girl" and first participated in the Jones Cup 11 years ago at the age of 15, now returning as an experienced professional from the WNBA.
In today’s opening game, the Korean team won convincingly against the Universiade training team with a score of 95-74. Hsiao Yu-wen, a 184cm center on the Universiade Chinese Taipei team, met Park Ji-soo for the first time, both scoring 10 points, while Park's statistics included 9 points and 5 rebounds in 16 minutes of play.
As Park just returned from the WNBA, head coach Park Soo-hoo prefers she not exhaust herself in the opening game, with the main goal set on the upcoming match against Japan.
Highlighting the performance, Jiang Yi-se had a remarkable outing, hitting 7 of 14 three-point attempts, securing the highest score of the match with 26 points.
Born on December 6, 1998, Park Ji-soo started playing basketball in second grade and joined the national team at 15 years old. She played for the WKBL's Cheongju KB Stars starting in 2016 and won the Rookie of the Year honors in her debut season. In the 2018 WNBA Draft, she was selected 17th by the Minnesota Lynx and subsequently traded to the Las Vegas Aces.
The Chinese Taipei team, led by Lin Chi-wan, employed a rotation strategy in the opening match of the Jones Cup against South Korea, ensuring all 12 players scored, with Lin Chia-yung leading with 17 points and impressive play.
