Yuta Sugiura Leads in Japan PGA Championship, Aiming for Back-to-Back Titles
Yuta Sugiura, the young Japanese golfer who won last year's Japan PGA Championship at Fuji Country Kani Club, started this year's tournament at Sanko Golf Club in Gifu Prefecture with a remarkable score of 64, eight strokes under par. After recently qualifying for the upcoming U.S. Open with rounds of 68 and 66 at Tarao Country Club, he expressed excitement about his continued strong performance, stating, "I made many birdies today, so I didn't feel tired, and my mood improved."
Taiga Semikawa finished second with a score of 66. Meanwhile, in the Bridgestone Ladies Open held in Aichi, Min-Young Lee, Shuri Sakuma, and Yuna Araki all shared the lead, shooting 66 as well.
