Trump's Trade War Positions US Bonds as Strategic Assets
In the trade war triggered by Trump’s tariffs, US government bonds have increasingly been viewed as strategic assets. Reports indicate that foreign investors increased their holdings of US bonds by $32.4 billion in May, bringing total holdings to a near-record high.
Additionally, it’s reported that President Lai Ching-te will announce investments from the sovereign fund in US bonds while transiting through the United States, potentially boosting confidence among international investors regarding US long-term debt.
