Poll Shows 58% of Citizens Oppose Recall Vote, Surprising Shift in Attitude

According to the latest poll from TVBS, 58% of the public expressed opposition to the recall vote, with only 30% in support.

As the countdown for the recall vote begins across Taiwan, numerous petition groups have met their second-phase signing goals. Despite the ongoing debate surrounding the recall campaign initiated by Democratic Progressive Party's legislative leader Ker Chien-Ming, the poll results reveal a significant majority against it. Specifically, the survey found that 58% of respondents do not support the motion, with 11% somewhat opposed and 47% strongly opposed; in contrast, supporters make up 30%, including 21% expressing strong support and 9% showing moderate support. Furthermore, 11% of participants did not provide an opinion.

This survey was conducted by the TVBS Polling Center and utilized both landline and mobile phone sampling methods. The survey was conducted from May 2 to 13, 114, reaching 1,425 Taiwan citizens aged 20 and over, with 1,048 valid samples obtained. The confidence level is 95%, with a sampling error rate of ±3.0 percentage points.

Additionally, TVBS attempted an online poll during the same period. However, due to a high rate of questionnaire forwarding, the collected data could not represent public opinion and thus was not utilized.
