President Lai Meets European Parliament Delegation: Enhancing Taiwan-EU Cooperation to Build a Resilient Democratic Supply Chain

President Lai Ching-te met with the 'European Parliament Delegation' yesterday, expressing gratitude for the European Parliament's ongoing attention to peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.

President Lai looks forward to closer Taiwan-EU relations in the future, with more diverse areas of cooperation, particularly in key sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and green energy, aiming to build a more resilient democratic supply chain that contributes to global prosperity.

He mentioned that the visit of MEPs Boštjan and Ding Huirui demonstrates support for Taiwan, reiterating Taiwan's steadfast commitment to maintaining the status quo in the Taiwan Strait.

President Lai emphasized that last month, the European Parliament passed resolutions on the EU's 'Common Foreign and Security Policy' and 'Common Security and Defense Policy', reaffirming the EU's commitment to maintaining the status quo in the Taiwan Strait.

He expressed thanks for the European Parliament's support for Taiwan and hopes that the two MEPs will continue to leverage their influence within the European Parliament to push for the signing of an 'Economic Partnership Agreement' between Taiwan and the EU, enhancing economic security and international competitiveness for both sides.

President Lai also hopes that the delegation's visit will lead to a deeper understanding of Taiwan, leaving them with a positive impression, and welcomes future visits to continually strengthen Taiwan-EU ties.
