Scholars Predict Major Earthquake in South China Sea and Eruption of Mount Fuji by 2030

According to reports, Japanese scholars predict that a major earthquake will occur in the South China Sea in the 2030s, potentially triggering an eruption of Mount Fuji and resulting in catastrophic consequences.

Kyoto University emeritus professor Hiroki Kamatari states that this earthquake will severely disrupt Japan's transportation and communication systems, possibly reverting the nation to a state reminiscent of the Edo period.

In recent years, Mount Fuji's magma reservoir stability has been affected by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, and several volcanoes are showing signs of activity. Should Mount Fuji erupt, it could result in ash coverage exceeding 10 cm in Tokyo and Yokohama, crippling urban functions and leading to economic losses estimated at 2.5 trillion yen.
