Trump Slams China for Breaching Trade Deal, Declares 'No More Mr. Nice Guy'

Former U.S. President Donald Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, on the 30th to strongly criticize China for violating the previously agreed trade deal. He stated, "For some people, this is not surprising. I am no longer that 'nice guy!'"

Trump pointed out that two weeks ago, China was in the midst of an economic crisis, with the U.S. imposing high tariffs on Chinese products, making it nearly impossible for China to enter the 'world's largest market.' He described U.S.-China trade as 'virtually severed,' causing significant damage to China's economy, resulting in numerous factory shutdowns and even social unrest. "I did not wish to see China in such a predicament," wrote Trump. "So I quickly facilitated an agreement to prevent China from facing worse consequences."

He emphasized that after the agreement was signed, the situation stabilized rapidly, allowing China's economy to return to normal, and both sides were initially pleased. However, Trump then turned the tables, stating, "The bad news is that China has completely violated our agreement." He believes this development may have been anticipated by some, declaring, "So the days of being the nice guy are over."

During his tenure, Trump frequently used tariffs as a means to pressure China; although these policies heightened trade tensions between the two countries, he viewed them as essential for protecting U.S. economic interests. This latest post showcases his consistent hardline stance and adds uncertainty to the future of U.S.-China economic relations.
