Taiwan's Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs, Jiang Wenruo, led a delegation to Sweden from October 2 to 4 to attend bilateral meetings and give a speech at the Swedish Parliament, capturing the attention of over ten members of Parliament. Jiang co-hosted the "2025 Taiwan-Sweden Economic Dialogue" with Sweden's Deputy Minister for Trade, Håkan Jevrell, emphasizing Taiwan's desire to establish trustworthy partnerships with like-minded allies.
During the meeting, discussions centered around energy policy, green transitions, and the circular economy. The two sides also attended the "41st Taiwan-Sweden Economic Cooperation Conference (JBC)", which has become the most historic economic cooperation platform between Taiwan and European countries since its inception in 1986, focusing on opportunities in ICT and low earth orbit satellite sectors. Jiang's address focused on "Strengthening Taiwan and Sweden's Collaboration to Build Resilient Supply Chains", receiving warm welcomes from Parliament’s Industry and Trade Committee Chairman, Tobias Andersson, who praised Taiwan's impressive economic vitality and performance.
During his speech, Taiwan’s representative in Sweden, Gu Ruisheng, noted that Taiwan plays a crucial role in the global supply chain and shares complementary economic and industrial ties with Sweden as partners in democratic values. Currently, Taiwan is the 12th largest importer and 20th largest exporter to the EU, urging Sweden to actively encourage the EU to expedite the Taiwan-EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) to strengthen economic resilience among democratic countries. Jiang also highlighted Taiwan's key position in global supply chains and shared strategies to cope with global economic uncertainties.
Moreover, Jiang visited Swedish communication technology leader Ericsson and key investor SHL Medical, aiming to deepen and expand cooperation in telecommunications and biotechnology sectors between Taiwan and Sweden.
