North Korea Experiences Major Internet Outage, Suspected Internal Issues

On July 7, North Korea experienced a significant internet outage affecting all major government departments and official media websites. The Pyongyang authorities did not clarify the cause of the incident; however, experts speculate that it stems from internal issues such as equipment failure or power outages, rather than external cyberattacks.
According to international media reports, Ali, a cybersecurity researcher monitoring North Korean internet activities, found that there was a major outage on the morning of July 7. This included key government websites such as the main state media and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which became incapacitated for unknown reasons, preventing external users from accessing them. Ali noted that during the outage, North Korean government and media sites, along with network-related infrastructure, disappeared from monitoring systems. Attempts to connect through IPs in China or Russia were also cut off. He suggested that this situation resembles a 'network pressure' problem, likely caused by internal errors like power outages or equipment failures.
Reports indicate that around 10 AM Taiwan time on July 7, the North Korean state media site ‘KCNA’ resumed operations.
