Lin Chang-Tso Takes Over as Finland's Ambassador Amidst Controversy

Today (19th), Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-Lung confirmed that Lin Chang-Tso, lead singer of the band Chthonic and former legislator, will take over as the representative to Finland. This announcement has sparked considerable attention, especially from KMT legislator Hsu Chiao-Hsin, who pointed out Lin's dismal attendance rate of only 6.7% as a board member of the 228 Foundation, leaving Lin Chia-Lung speechless. Hsu questioned how Lin Chang-Tso could perform well in Finland if he couldn’t do so in Taiwan, yet Lin Chia-Lung did not respond directly.
On this appointment, Lin Chia-Lung asserted that Lin Chang-Tso is knowledgeable about diplomatic affairs and that diverse talents are needed in "comprehensive diplomacy." Following the criticisms, the Facebook page "Politician's Joy" mocked, stating, "Laughing to death, how can someone not care about 228 rights be considered excellent in human rights diplomacy?" Online commenters also chimed in with remarks about his appointment, suggesting it was absurd to have someone with such significant issues represent Taiwan abroad.
