DarkShot Wins Taiwan's World Cosplay Summit, Set to Compete in Japan this August

The "2025 Taoyuan City Costume Carnival" successfully concluded on August 8, marking the climax of the global event where the winner for the Taiwan representative selection of the World Cosplay Summit (WCS) was announced. The team DarkShot triumphed with their performance as the Hunter and Lady Maria from the series "Bloodborne," earning them the right to represent Taiwan in Nagoya this August.
The members of DarkShot, Michael and Ink, both ordinary office workers with over ten years of cosplay experience, expressed their excitement about the victory. They dedicated a year to prepare for this competition, carefully researching and experimenting with various materials to create authentic character appearances. They derived their team name “Dark Shot” from their unique characteristics and love for drinks.
While thrilled with their victory, they recognized that this marks the beginning of their responsibility as they aim for success in Japan over the next two months. Engaging with fellow cosplayers and judges will be key as they prepare for the competition. Additionally, the second place was awarded to the team known as “不贝艾的才是第三者,” and third place went to “飞行封神者,” each for their impressive performances.
Wang Lijuan, the acting director of the Taoyuan City Department of Tourism, stated that cosplay is greatly favored among the younger population. Hosting such themed events not only attracts cosplay enthusiasts but also promotes tourism in the Qingpu area and the Taoyuan Plaza. Furthermore, she announced that for those who enjoyed the cosplay festivities, the “Taoyuan Halloween City” event will take place in October, promising more creativity and surprises.
