Ma Ying-jeou Ignores Blue Camp's Warnings and Insists on Attending Cross-Strait Forum in China

Hsiao Hsu-chen, the executive director of the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation, confirmed today (11th) that former President Ma Ying-jeou will lead a delegation to China on the 14th to attend the current Cross-Strait Forum. Taipei City Councilor Chien Shu-pei indicated that Ma is choosing to go to China for a 'break' because he was not included in the 'KMT Anti-recall Four Pillars' and felt no support from the party.
Despite most members of the Blue Camp being reluctant to attend the forum, Ma is determined to go to China against the party's advice. Lawyer Chen You-hsin questioned on the program why the KMT does not dare to endorse engagement with China if they believe it is the right thing to do, noting that such engagement could even gain them points during a recall election. Chien further emphasized that Ma no longer cares about the KMT because he has not been respected, illustrated by the fact that no one invited him to support local blue legislator Lai Shih-pao, who is facing a recall.
