President Lai Invites Blue and White Parties for National Affairs Discussion, First National Security Briefing for Opposition Leaders

The Taiwan People's Party announced today (12th) that Secretary General Chou Yu-hsiu received a call from Presidential Office Secretary General Pan Meng-an, inviting Party Chairman Huang Kuo-chang and Chou to discuss national affairs next Wednesday (18th) at 9 a.m. The Kuomintang also stated that Secretary General Huang Jian-ting received Pan's call and is expected to meet with Party Chairman Zhu Li-lun on the 18th.
Presidential Office spokesperson Kuo Ya-hui indicated that this is the first time a national security briefing will be provided to opposition party leaders, and expressed hope for positive responses from both parties. She emphasized that all parties should prioritize national interests and work together to tackle various challenges facing the nation.
The Taiwan People's Party expressed gratitude for Pan's notification but stated that it would respond later about meeting arrangements based on legislative schedules and specifics. They reiterated that national interests surpass party interests and hope that discussions can happen without preconditions.
The Kuomintang underscored their willingness to collaborate sincerely in solving problems and encouraged President Lai to adopt a truly inclusive approach to work with the opposition in addressing Taiwan's challenges. Kuo Ya-hui noted that further arrangements would be announced after responses from both parties.
