Taiwan Pavilion Joins Seoul International Book Fair to Showcase Taiwanese Literature

The Taiwan Pavilion is making its debut at the Seoul International Book Fair, aiming to share Taiwan’s compelling stories and works with readers and buyers worldwide. The event runs from the 18th to the 22nd, with Taiwan invited as the featured country under the theme of "Taiwan Sensibility."

At the fair, the Taiwan Pavilion will present three main themes: "Nature Writing," "Indigenous Literature," and "Taiwan Literature Award Classics," alongside inviting authors and translators for talks and discussions. The pavilion will also showcase 82 selected thematic books and their English translations for copyright promotion, as well as exhibiting cultural artifacts from Chiou Miao-Chin.

This book fair is the largest in South Korea and holds significant influence in Asia. The Taiwan Pavilion aims to leverage this platform to integrate resources and elevate the visibility and impact of Taiwanese literary works on an international stage, promoting the unique features of Taiwan’s literature globally.

In recent years, Korean publishers and readers have shown a keen interest in Taiwanese literary works. This exhibition will highlight selections of past English translations of the Taiwan Literature Award Classics and will feature professionals to facilitate international rights promotion. To enhance the understanding of Taiwanese literature among Korean readers, authors such as Wu Ming-Yi, Dong Shu-Ming, and Ping Lu are invited to give lectures, while translators, important figures in promoting Taiwanese literature abroad, will partake in discussions with authors and plan a mini-exhibition of various literary and creative products.
