Xi Jinping and Putin Condemn Israel's Actions, Call for Ceasefire in Iran Conflict

The conflict between Israel and Iran has escalated, triggering a geopolitical competition involving the United States, China, and Russia. On June 19th, Chinese President Xi Jinping held an urgent phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the situation in the Middle East, condemning Israel’s attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities and demanding an immediate ceasefire.
During the call, Xi put forward four key points: firstly, he demanded that Israel stop its attacks; secondly, he called for both Israel and Iran to adhere to international law and safeguard civilian lives; thirdly, he emphasized the need for dialogue to address nuclear issues; and finally, he encouraged the international community to promote peace. Putin expressed his willingness to work with China to maintain regional peace and stability.
Russian foreign policy advisor Ozhakov confirmed that the two leaders are aligned in their views, stating that they unequivocally condemned Israel's actions. However, U.S. President Trump expressed skepticism about Putin's mediation proposal, suggesting he should first deal with issues within Russia before addressing the Israel-Iran conflict.
Before the Israeli military action against Iran, reports indicated that several Chinese cargo planes had been observed flying towards Iranian airspace, raising suspicions of potential military supply deliveries to Iran.
