Wang Hwei-mei Visits Danish Design Festival to Infuse New Perspectives into Taiwan Design Exhibition

Wang Hwei-mei, the county magistrate of Changhua, led a delegation to Copenhagen, Denmark, to participate in the annual international design event, the "Danish Three-Day Design Festival," ahead of the upcoming 2025 Taiwan Design Exhibition to be held on October 10. The visit aimed to absorb Nordic experiences in sustainable design, cultural creativity, and exhibition planning.

Wang emphasized that design is not just about aesthetics but also a crucial pathway for practicing sustainable living. Through the tour, she saw the global influence of Danish design and how Nordic countries elevate urban quality through design, aligning perfectly with the goals of the upcoming exhibition in Changhua.

This year's festival, themed "KEEP IT REAL," emphasized authenticity, personal expression, and sustainable values, attracting global designers, industry professionals, and design enthusiasts to showcase the latest achievements in Nordic design related to lifestyle aesthetics and environmental sustainability. The delegation visited key exhibition sites, including the Danish Design Museum, which serves as a national palace of Danish design, showcasing a collection from classic furniture to modern works and educating visitors about transforming design history into cultural creative resources.

In addition, the team explored BLOX, an innovative building located along the Copenhagen harbor, transformed from an abandoned brewery site. It features a unique appearance made of interlocking transparent cubes, combining exhibition, conference, dining, and retail spaces, serving as a platform for public life and creative exchange. The building utilizes a transparent green glass façade that dialogues with the traditional copper-green roofs of surrounding architecture, embodying the spirit of integration between design, environment, and history.

The 2025 Taiwan Design Exhibition will be held in Changhua for the first time, focusing on three main themes: "life,” “culture,” and “industry.” It aims to rethink everyday challenges through the power of design, reshape cultural identity, and promote industrial upgrades and international integration. Design is not only the aesthetic language of the city but a key engine for urban transformation and sustainable development, inviting the public to pay attention to the exciting debut of the 2025 Taiwan Design Exhibition in Changhua.
