Chinese Man Arrested After Stealing $1.115 Million in Luxury Goods in Hong Kong

A 30-year-old Chinese man was arrested after arriving in Hong Kong on June 19. The suspect allegedly pretended to buy a handbag at a second-hand luxury boutique in Tsim Sha Tsui on the evening of the 18th, before covering the store employee's mouth and nose with a towel, rendering her unconscious, and stealing multiple high-value items.
According to police, the theft resulted in a loss of over HKD 2.97 million (approximately NT$11.15 million), including 14 branded bags, one necklace, and two mobile phones. The female employee managed to free herself with a craft knife after regaining consciousness, only to find the store had been completely ransacked.
The suspect fled to Thailand following the crime, but was captured at Bangkok airport by Thai police. The investigation is ongoing.
