Canadian School Bus Driver Fired for Wearing Lolita Outfit While Transporting Children

A school bus driver in Ontario, Canada, has sparked controversy after wearing a pink Lolita uniform while transporting students, with footage of the incident circulating rapidly on social media. The bus was marked with 'Lolita Line', a term that carries strong suggestive connotations in Western contexts, alarming many parents who expressed concerns about potential pedophilic implications.

In the video, the driver was seen interacting with parents outside the bus in a short skirt, high socks, and a bow tie-themed outfit, prompting several adults to question the appropriateness of his attire. When confronted with the question, 'Is this how you dress to pick up kids?', the driver simply replied, 'Yeah.' Faced with inquiries about why it was called 'Lolita Line', he left without offering an explanation. A bystander who filmed the incident warned online, 'Hide your kids! Just look up what Lolita means!'

The term 'Lolita' originates from the novel by Russian-American author Vladimir Nabokov, which depicts a story of a 12-year-old girl being lured and sexually abused by an adult man. Although the term has evolved in Japanese subculture to represent a nostalgic fashion style, it still carries significant pedophilic connotations in Western societies. The York Catholic District School Board later issued a statement confirming that the driver would no longer provide transportation services and assured that measures would be taken to prevent such occurrences in the future.
