In Changping District, Beijing, a man named Li discovered that his downstairs neighbor, Mr. Jiang, had converted a storage room into a large koi pond, causing disturbances to Li and his family's peace. Initially unable to tolerate the noise, Li attempted to negotiate with Jiang, but tensions escalated, leading Li to file a lawsuit.

Li purchased his unit in 2017 specifically for its quiet environment. However, in early 2024, the sudden transformation of the basement into a fish pond disrupted this tranquility. After several unsuccessful negotiations, Li took Jiang to court, asking for the removal of the pond and related equipment.

During the first trial, while initial judicial assessments showed that the noise levels were not excessive, the court eventually ruled in favor of Li, ordering Jiang to dismantle the pond.
