Hong Kong Travel Agencies Explore New Highlights in Taichung Tourism

To promote international tourism exchanges, Taichung City Government collaborated with the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications to invite 15 travel agencies from Hong Kong to participate in a four-day, three-night incentive tour from June 19 to 22. The itinerary included diverse experiences, and a grand award dinner was held at the Li Farne Aimei Hotel, attended by Director Chen Mei-Hsiu, demonstrating the city government's commitment to promoting the international tourism market.

According to statistics from the Tourism Bureau, the number of Hong Kong visitors to Taiwan reached 1.1 million last year, with continued growth expected this year. The daily three direct flights between Taichung and Hong Kong, lasting about two hours, highlight the geographic convenience and consumer potential, making Hong Kong a significant and promising international market for Taichung. This invitation for key decision-makers in the Hong Kong tourism industry to visit Taichung allows them to personally experience its tourism appeal and aids in promoting central Taiwan as a premier incentive travel destination.

During the trip, participants experienced local culture through DIY woodworking and visited the Bicycle Culture Exploration Center, gaining insights into Taichung's position as a major global bicycle industry hub. Director Chen emphasized the tour's diverse and locally unique content, which was highly regarded by participating agencies, extending beyond Taichung to include important tourist attractions in Miaoli, Chiayi, and Nantou, leaving a strong impression of regional tourism and the city’s commitment to quality service and destination planning.

The Tourism Bureau added that it will continue to strengthen cooperation with international travel operators through invitation tours, itinerary matching, and promotional exchanges, expanding overseas markets to showcase Taichung's diverse charms and tourism capabilities.
