UK to Purchase 12 Nuclear-capable F-35A Fighters from the US to Strengthen Deterrence

As global tensions rise with Russian aggression, the Iraq war, and increasing nuclear arms races, the UK is set to purchase 12 nuclear-capable F-35A fighters from the United States. Prime Minister Keir Starmer is expected to announce this military purchase at the upcoming NATO summit on the 26th. According to a report by the Daily Mail, this move signifies a significant shift in the UK's nuclear strategy, enhancing national defense capabilities and reinforcing commitments to NATO allies.
Starmer emphasized, 'In this uncertain era, we can no longer take peace for granted.' The deployment of F-35A fighters is viewed as a crucial milestone for the UK to regain its core position in nuclear strategy.
This purchase would allow the UK to have air-based nuclear strike capabilities. Furthermore, it is projected to create around 20,000 local jobs. Along with the F-35A acquisition, the UK announced it will supply Ukraine with 350 air defense missiles and urged other nations to provide further support to Ukraine.
