North Korea's Huge Beach Resort Grand Opening! Kim Jong-un Celebrates with Family

The newly constructed large beach resort 'Wonsan-Kalma Coastal Tourist Area' in North Korea is set to open officially on July 1. A grand opening ceremony was recently held, attended by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un along with his wife and daughter. His daughter, Kim Ju-ae, was notably at his side, while the first lady, Ri Sol-ju, made her first public appearance in a year and a half, choosing to remain in the background to allow her daughter to shine.
According to South Korean media, the 'Wonsan-Kalma Coastal Tourist Area' has been a significant focus for the North Korean government since its planning began in 2014. Originally scheduled for completion in 2019, the opening was delayed until June 24 of this year. The resort can accommodate over 20,000 visitors and features hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, and a water park. However, it will only be open to North Korean citizens upon its opening, thus leaving outsiders to imagine what it looks like.
In recent years, North Korea has aimed to develop its tourism industry, yet its stance on international visitors has been inconsistent. Currently, the main sources of international visitors are limited to China and Russia. In February, there was a brief opening to more Western tourists, which was later abruptly halted without explanation.
