Ukraine Warns: Chinese Military Personnel to Train in Russia, Beijing Denies the Reports

According to sources from Ukraine's Defense Intelligence Agency, Moscow plans to host about 600 Chinese military personnel in 2025 for joint training with the Russian armed forces, focusing on counteracting Western weapons and gaining combat experience. In response to this report, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiyang stated, "We have no information on this matter."
The Kyiv Post reports that these Chinese military personnel will be trained in countering Western weaponry, with a primary emphasis on developing tank drivers, artillery, engineering, and air defense specialists. The Chinese Foreign Ministry reiterated that they have never provided weapons to any warring parties and continue to advocate for peace talks.
Earlier in April this year, Ukraine disclosed the capture of two Chinese nationals who were fighting for Russian forces. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky suggested that Russia is attempting to draw China into its invasion of Ukraine, asserting that hundreds of Chinese nationals are involved. Furthermore, reports indicate that China has halted drone supplies to Ukraine while continuing military sales to Russia. This has led Ukraine to impose sanctions on three Chinese companies. In response to Ukraine's accusations of dragging China into the conflict, both Russia and China have denied these claims and issued warnings against irresponsible statements.
