383 Bodies Discovered in Mexican Crematorium Sparking Concerns Over Fake Ashes for Families

A private crematorium in Juárez has been found to have 383 bodies carelessly stacked. The doors of the facility are locked, and a 'suspended operations' seal is posted, with medical gloves found carelessly discarded outside. Initial investigations by Mexican authorities reveal that although all bodies have undergone embalming, proper cremation procedures were not followed.

Javier Sánchez, the director of forensic services in Chihuahua state, stated, "We found 383 corpses stored in a crematorium, and the conditions were extremely poor, unsuitable for handling and preserving human remains." Authorities noted that some of the stacked bodies had been stored for over two years, with forensic assessments estimating some may have been there for up to five years.

Sánchez further noted, "While we need to confirm, it seems that some bodies have been here for approximately five years. Only after identity verification can we ascertain which bodies have been stored the longest and which more recently." The authorities have preliminarily determined that some families may receive materials other than ashes, causing shock among the public.

Prosecutors have accused the crematory operators of negligence and irresponsibility, as all operators are aware of their daily cremation capacity and should not accept excess work. Currently, one manager from the crematorium has surrendered to the authorities. Juárez, located on the U.S.-Mexico border, is also notorious for drug trafficking and violence, raising concerns if the stacked bodies are victims of violent crime, which requires further investigation.
