Blundell had just moved from New South Wales' Central Coast to Queensland's Gold Coast and started a new job. On the day of the accident, he was celebrating with close friends when he attempted a backflip and landed heavily on his head.
Feeling unwell, he went to bed and was later found unresponsive by his roommate the next morning. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Blundell never regained consciousness and was reported to have suffered multiple strokes and underwent brain surgery due to a hemorrhage.
