Explosion at Rome Gas Station Injures Dozens, Shock Waves Felt Miles Away

On the morning of April 4, around 8 AM local time, a powerful explosion occurred at a gas station in the Villa De Santis area of Rome, with shock waves felt several kilometers away. Preliminary investigations suggest that the explosion was triggered when a fuel tanker accidentally collided with a fuel line while refueling liquefied petroleum gas.

At least 21 people were injured, several suffering serious burns. Thick smoke poured from the site, and emergency response plans were quickly activated, with multiple fire units and medical teams dispatched to assist. Nearby traffic was also redirected, and residents reported being awakened by the blast. One witness described the scene as resembling a battlefield, with debris scattered everywhere.
