South African Agriculture Minister John Steenhuisen has fiercely condemned Musk's claims of "ethnic cleansing" as nonsense, and is scheduled to meet with Trump alongside South Africa's foreign minister on Wednesday. U.S. officials attending the meeting will include Vice President Pence, Secretary of Defense Esper, and Secretary of Commerce Ross.

Trump has repeatedly criticized South Africa's participation in BRICS and strongly condemned its role in pursuing ethnic cleansing charges against Israel at the International Criminal Court.
