Latest Typhoon Holiday Announcement: Areas Closed on July 7

The Central Weather Administration continues to issue typhoon warnings for Typhoon Danas. According to the latest announcement, 12 counties and cities in western Taiwan south of Hsinchu and the outlying Penghu Islands will have a holiday tomorrow (July 7), ceasing all work and classes.

The Taipei and New Taipei areas, as well as Taoyuan, will continue to operate normally, but the districts of Luzhu, Dayuan, Guanyin, and Xinwu in Taoyuan will suspend work and classes. In addition, areas in Yilan, Hualien, and Taitung will continue with their normal schedules.

The following are the class and work closure details for various counties and cities:

  • Keelung City: Normal work and classes
  • Taipei City: Normal work and classes
  • New Taipei City: Normal work and classes
  • Taoyuan City: Normal except for Luzhu, Dayuan, Guanyin, and Xinwu
  • Hsinchu City: Work and classes suspended
  • Hsinchu County: Work and classes suspended
  • Miaoli County: Work and classes suspended
  • Taichung City: Work and classes suspended
  • Changhua County: Work and classes suspended
  • Nantou County: Work and classes suspended
  • Yunlin County: Work and classes suspended
  • Chiayi City: Work and classes suspended
  • Chiayi County: Work and classes suspended
  • Tainan City: Work and classes suspended
  • Kaohsiung City: Work and classes suspended
  • Pingtung County: Work and classes suspended
  • Yilan County: Normal work and classes
  • Hualien County: Normal work and classes
  • Taitung County: Normal work and classes
  • Penghu County: Work and classes suspended
  • Lienchiang County: Normal work and classes
  • Kinmen County: Normal work and classes

According to Article 4 of the Regulations on the Suspension of Work and Classes Due to Natural Disasters, areas expected to experience a typhoon's radius within four hours, with average wind speeds of level seven or gusts at level ten or above, may suspend work and classes. However, as weather conditions can change rapidly, the final decision rests with local government announcements.
