Lion Escapes Turkish Theme Park, Nearly Kills Farmer in Midnight Encounter

A lion named Zeus, belonging to a Turkish theme park, escaped its enclosure at night and nearly killed a farmer named Keel resting in a nearby pistachio field. The incident occurred around 4:30 to 5:00 AM when Keel and his wife were startled by rustling sounds. As Keel uncovered his blanket, the lion pounced on him.
Keel described the terrifying moment where he struggled with the lion, yelling for help. The lion bit his thigh and neck, gripping him tightly with its claws, but Keel's strength forced the predator to retreat. After sustaining serious injuries, Keel was quickly rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, the lion was subsequently shot due to the inability to capture it alive and concerns over further attacks.
The Antalyan governor explained that there was no way to safely catch the lion, forcing them to make this decision. Furious over the incident, Keel vowed to hold the theme park accountable for keeping the 30 lions.
Similar lion attacks have also occurred in Pakistan, where a lion escaped its enclosure and chased pedestrians, injuring a mother and her two children. The local government has since cracked down on illegal wild animal ownership, arresting several owners.
