Private Plane Crash in San Diego Sets 15 Homes on Fire

In the early hours of May 22, a plane crash occurred in San Diego, California, when a Cessna 550 small aircraft crashed into the Murphy Canyon residential area, directly hitting multiple homes and igniting fires in about 15 buildings, forcing residents in several blocks to evacuate.

Fire Department Deputy Chief Eddie reported that the site was covered in aviation fuel, and rescue personnel were conducting searches of each residence to ensure the safety of residents. He pointed out that thick fog at the time of the incident reduced visibility, complicating the rescue efforts.

The Federal Aviation Administration indicated that the aircraft was originally scheduled to land at the nearby Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport, and it remains unclear how many people were on board or whether there were any casualties.
