World Police and Fire Games in the U.S. Sees Taiwan Win 164 Medals, a Record Achievement

Huang Guanming from the Pingdong County Fire Department won a gold medal in men's badminton singles, showcasing excellent performance in doubles as well. New Taipei firefighter Chen Pengjun claimed a gold medal after defeating his opponent. In this event, a Chinese athlete leaped with the five-star flag, adding special meaning to the victory.

The Taiwan team claimed the world championship in the firefighting challenge and performed remarkably in swimming events, especially in the 50-meter breaststroke where they won gold. Chen Xinhua from the Harbor Police Corps stated, 'Having not competed for about six years, the participants were quite nervous, but achieving good results certainly eased their worries.'

Firefighters and police officers from across Taiwan participated in the 21st World Police and Fire Games, culminating in winning 164 medals, including 74 gold medals. Yu Hongqi, the head of planning and development at the Fire Department Training Center, explained, 'This year, we altered our approach so that any willing athlete could compete, and as long as they possessed the necessary skills, they were allowed to represent their local fire departments. This has resulted in increased success.' The team will return on the 9th after achieving record-breaking results, with the next competition scheduled for two years later in Australia, where they hope to continue shining on the international stage.
