The case of Taiwanese artist Wang Dalu's military evasion has raised concerns, with police investigations revealing at least ten artists allegedly involved in obtaining fake medical records to avoid military service, including singer Chen Lingjiu and artist Xiao Xia. Former legislator Guo Zhengliang pointed out that the phenomenon of fleeing military service in Taiwan is severe, involving not only artists but also wealthy families' children. He mentioned that if the Ministry of National Defense truly investigates, it could involve thousands of individuals.

Guo emphasized that men over the age of 36 are exempt from service, hence these artists are not restricted by age. However, if they are only fined, it may not significantly impact them, and the social implications could be even deeper. He noted that if this happened in South Korea, it would trigger a much larger uproar, as it is less acceptable in their society. Furthermore, Guo warned that as tensions in the Taiwan Strait increase, more wealthy families may send their children abroad, affecting Taiwan's military recruitment in the future.
