Kaohsiung Attracts Southeast Asian Tour Groups Showcasing International Tourism Appeal

The Kaohsiung City Tourism Bureau, in collaboration with the tourism association, invited 14 travel agencies from Indonesia for a site inspection to further promote Kaohsiung's rising international tourism profile. For two consecutive years, Kaohsiung has been the city with the highest number of visitors in Taiwan and has been recognized on platforms like Agoda and Klook.
To accelerate international tourism promotion, the Kaohsiung City Government is partnering with travel operators from Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines to showcase the diverse attractions of mountains, seas, rivers, ports, culture, and cuisine. This includes providing Muslim-friendly services and implementing video marketing strategies to position Kaohsiung as the preferred destination for Southeast Asian travelers.
Director Gao Min-lin noted that the Tourism Bureau has actively expanded into international markets, forming the Kaohsiung International Tourism Team with local operators to participate in promotional events in Malaysia, Singapore, and more, achieving remarkable results.
In 2024, it is anticipated that the number of international travelers staying in Kaohsiung will increase by 20% compared to 2023, with notable growth rates exceeding 40% for travelers from the Philippines and Korea. The bureau is also facilitating the revival of several flight routes, including those from Singapore to Kaohsiung.
The Tourism Bureau is working closely with various partners to invite international operators to experience Kaohsiung's rich tourism resources and cultural charm. Indonesian operators have expressed a strong impression of Kaohsiung's port city culture and Muslim-friendly environment.
