China Doubles Down on AI and Humanoid Robot Plans Amid U.S. Pressure, ASEAN Stands Firm

The intensifying tech and manufacturing rivalry between the U.S. and China has prompted the Chinese government to consider updating the 'Made in China 2025' initiative, focusing more on artificial intelligence (AI) and humanoid robots. This announcement has raised concerns among Western nations about potential overcapacity and subsidies that could disrupt the global market.

During the recent ASEAN summit held in Kuala Lumpur, leaders from China and Gulf countries participated to strengthen cooperation with Southeast Asia. In 2023, ASEAN's trade with China approached $900 billion, with China being the largest trading partner, while the U.S. ranks second, compelling ASEAN nations to find a balance between the two powers.

Dr. Lee Kuan Cheng, an associate researcher at the National Defense Security Institute, revealed that in the event of a Chinese invasion of Taiwan, 70% of people would be willing to defend their homeland, with over half supporting an increase in the defense budget.
