Lai Ching-te Emphasizes Signing Taiwan-EU Economic Partnership Agreement at 2025 European Dinner

President Lai Ching-te attended the "2025 European Dinner" on the evening of the 29th, indicating his strong emphasis on Taiwan-EU economic relations. In his speech, he expressed the hope that both sides would further institutionalize bilateral trade and investment mechanisms, promoting the signing of the Taiwan-EU Economic Partnership Agreement in an "innovative and diverse" manner to provide a more transparent, stable, and predictable business environment for enterprises.

Lai also stated that Taiwan will actively cooperate with democratic countries, including Europe, to jointly create a resilient and potential "non-red supply chain." In the face of current geopolitical and economic challenges, such cooperation is particularly important. He extended his gratitude to Zhang Hanshu, chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan, for the invitation to this evening's event and congratulated him on being re-elected.

Regarding Taiwan's economic situation, Lai pointed out that the total trade volume between Taiwan and the EU reached 84.7 billion USD last year, reflecting the strong economic exchanges and mutual trust between enterprises. He emphasized a commitment to establish a stronger partnership with Europe, tackling global challenges together.
