The Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California has announced a groundbreaking initiative to launch its new supercomputer named 'Doudna' in 2026. Built by Dell, this high-performance computer will utilize NVIDIA's next-generation computing platform 'Vera Rubin'.

'Doudna', named after Nobel laureate and CRISPR pioneer Jennifer Doudna, aims to enhance the U.S. Department of Energy's scientific exploration capabilities significantly, with expected computing performance exceeding the previous system 'Perlmutter' by tenfold while consuming only 2 to 3 times the energy.

U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright stated that 'Doudna' will drive scientific discoveries across various fields. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang and Doudna expressed pride and anticipation for the project, viewing it as a vital foundation for future scientific advancements.
