Airbnb Partners with Japanese Nonprofits to Provide Emergency Shelters Within 24 Hours of Natural Disasters

Airbnb's nonprofit organization Airbnb.org recently announced its collaboration with Japanese nonprofits to provide emergency shelters within 24 hours of natural disasters occurring in Japan. This marks Airbnb's first such offering globally, with Japan being the initial focus.
The initiative collaborates with organizations such as Peace Boat Disaster Relief, Japan Platform, and Peace Winds Japan, aiming to deliver refuge in designated areas across all 47 prefectures. Additionally, these accommodations will serve as facilities for medical and emergency response personnel.
Since its inception in 2020, Airbnb.org has assisted over 250,000 individuals with temporary housing, facilitating more than 1.6 million nights of accommodation. All lodging arranged through Airbnb.org is free, with donations specifically allocated for refuge accommodations.
