Los Angeles FC Team Overview - 2025 FIFA Club World Cup

The revamped 2025 FIFA Club World Cup is set to take place in June, with DAZN providing full live coverage for fans! This article will introduce you to the Los Angeles FC team's background, schedule, and streaming links.
Los Angeles FC (LAFC) is the final team to confirm participation in this year's Club World Cup, having recently defeated Club América from Mexico in the playoff to become the third team representing the host nation. While this will be LAFC's first appearance in the Club World Cup, they have showcased significant strength in various important competitions since their inception.
LAFC is one of two teams located in the Los Angeles area within Major League Soccer (MLS), and also one of four MLS teams in California. Their home ground, BMO Stadium, is situated within Exposition Park in downtown Los Angeles, adjacent to the iconic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
Founded in 2014, LAFC succeeded the now-defunct Chivas USA. Chivas USA was a subsidiary of CD Guadalajara from Mexico and previously shared a stadium with LA Galaxy. LAFC later constructed BMO Stadium in the city center and made its MLS debut in 2018. The original name was merely a placeholder, but it ultimately became officially known as "Los Angeles Football Club".
In just a few years, LAFC completed the American soccer "Grand Slam": MLS Cup champions (1 time), MLS Supporters' Shield (2 times), and U.S. Open Cup champions (1 time). The team's top scorer for 2025 MLS is Denis Bouanga, who has scored 7 goals so far this season. Since joining in 2022, he has consistently performed well, and he was instrumental in the playoff, scoring the decisive goal that helped the team advance to the Club World Cup.
The head coach, Steve Cherundolo, is a former U.S. international who competed in two World Cups and was a member of the 2005 Gold Cup championship team. He spent most of his playing career with Hannover 96 in Germany and began his coaching career with their youth teams after retiring. He took over LAFC in 2022 and led the team to both the Supporters' Shield and the championship in his first season.
LAFC is one of five teams representing North America in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. They were the runners-up in the 2023 CONCACAF Champions League, losing to Club León from Mexico. Due to León's subsequent disqualification, LAFC received a playoff berth against Club América, which they won to secure their spot in the Club World Cup.
