2 Survivors Found After Air India Crash; Boeing Shares Plunge and Rebound

A crash incident occurred today (12th) at 1:17 PM in Ahmedabad, India, involving an Air India flight. The aircraft, which was taking off at the time, crashed with 242 people onboard. So far, 2 survivors have been located. The Air India flight AI171 was scheduled to fly to London, but it went down near a residential area next to the airport shortly after takeoff.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) of the United States has announced it will investigate the crash and has dispatched a team of experts to India. Boeing has released a statement indicating it is collecting relevant information and is in contact with Air India to provide all necessary support.
This incident marks the first crash of the Boeing 787 aircraft type, which faced lithium battery issues in 2013 but was redesigned to resolve these problems. Following the crash, Boeing's stock dropped nearly 8% in pre-market trading, though it slightly rebounded after opening, down $8.83 or 4.13%. Shares of GE Aerospace, which manufactures the engines for the 787, also fell by approximately 3%.
