Taipei City / Comprehensive Report Recently, it was confirmed that former legislator Lin Chang-Tso will serve as the representative to Finland. Today (19th), Foreign Minister Lin Chia-Lung publicly confirmed this matter, and later in the evening, the Presidential Office issued an order appointing Lin Chang-Tso as the ambassador to Finland. In response, Lin Chang-Tso posted on social media thanking everyone for their concern and emphasized that he will give his all and move forward steadily.

He shared a photo taken abroad, stating that diplomatic work requires dedicated effort, and he looks forward to meeting more people in Helsinki.

However, this appointment has drawn criticism from KMT legislators, who question whether such appointments might impact the morale of diplomats. KMT legislator Hsu Chiao-Hsin asked why more experienced individuals are not allowed to continue in similar roles. In contrast, Minister Lin Chia-Lung replied that the appointment is based on qualifications.

On the other hand, DPP legislators expressed support for the appointment, noting that Finland is familiar with the Taiwanese band Chthonic, which can represent Taiwan's cultural values. Minister Lin emphasized that there are limits on the number of diplomats who can be appointed as ambassadors to protect the promotion of career diplomats.

In fact, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs amended regulations in 2018 to relax the upper limit for non-diplomatic professionals serving as ambassadors.
