Rescued from Cambodia: Taiwanese College Students Return Home Safely

Li, a college student from Taichung, and her friend Lin were victims of a scam that led them to Cambodia. Li's grandfather borrowed money to try and secure their release, but it appears that he fell victim to intermediary scams, pleading for government assistance.
With intervention from the authorities, the two women reached Taiwan safely today (7th) on a direct flight from Phnom Penh to Taoyuan, escorted by police upon arrival. Li's grandfather expressed relief that his granddaughter is back home, allowing him to finally sleep well. He plans to take her to a temple to give thanks.
Recalling their ordeal, the two students noted that they were lured by a job offer promising monthly salaries, only to find themselves in a scam ring. Lin described experiencing daily threats, stating they would be harmed if they didn't cooperate and that escaping would cost them $3,000.
