Two Female College Students from Taichung Rescued from Cambodia in 6 Hours

Two female college students from Taichung found themselves caught up in a scam after being misled into working in Cambodia. Their situation garnered significant attention when Li's grandfather publicly pleaded for help. Thanks to Chen Jianliang, the village chief in Shalu District, who coordinated with friends in Cambodia, both students were successfully rescued from a fraud camp within just six hours. 18-year-old Li and 19-year-old Lin, both former high school classmates and currently studying together in college, had hoped to earn money to support their single-parent families but fell victim to a scam.

Chen, who is also the president of the Taiwan Village Chief Union, acted swiftly, managing to facilitate the rescue at no cost. The students safely returned to Taiwan today and were met at the airport. They provided accounts of their ordeal at local police stations afterward. Li opted to remain low-key and did not wish to face the media.
