Taiwan's Economic Ministry Addresses US Chamber Concerns Over Baseload Power, Insists on Stability

The Economic Ministry of Taiwan has responded to concerns raised by the US Chamber of Commerce in its '2025 Taiwan White Paper' regarding baseload power. The Energy Agency stated that the country is actively promoting a transition to secondary energy, developing diverse renewable energy sources while planning to add gas-fired units to support baseload power.

The Energy Agency emphasized that the government reviews the power supply and demand situation annually, properly planning the overall power development strategy. This year, new gas units are expected to come online, with a total generation capacity of 4.813 million kilowatts, exceeding that of existing nuclear power facilities.

Furthermore, to comply with international net-zero emissions trends, Taiwan is pushing towards diverse, carbon-free renewable energy, assuring that the new electricity demands from industries will be met.
